LAN Chile, one of the top three airlines in Latin America, needed a system that provided good performance under the stress of multiple users making heavy, penetrating demands of the data, with the ability to grow with the airline without causing undue fiscal or analytical burden.
After benchmarking several leading solutions, LAN Chile chose an enterprise data warehouse from Teradata. The Teradata system ran 10 times faster than the legacy system and enabled the airline to not only see reservations for flights up to a year in advance, but also store two years of historic reservation information.
In addition to the speed and scalability of its solutions, Teradata's experience in creating data warehouse solutions for the airline industry meant the system required less customization, which of course meant a faster implementation and easier transition.
